Baby Tracker app
Background
During the first months of a newborn's life, parents are busy providing them with the basic needs throughout the day - food, sleep, play and a clean diaper.
Caring for a soft baby is accompanied by frustrations, an inability to understand the baby's exact needs and therefore challenge in providing an appropriate response.

Monitoring the baby's behavior and identifying recurring patterns, allows the parents to learn their baby's needs and plan a daily routine that fits both the baby and the caregiver.

The BANBAN App allows easily logging of baby behavioral diaries. The app collects the data and translates it into simple graphs that help parents and caregivers analyze recurring patterns in the baby’s routine.
The goal of this project was to create the most simple and accessible way to log and analyze baby behavior. In addition, the app provided valuable data and analysis that could then be used by shared caregivers to update and discuss with each other.

Research
The questionnaire was sent to 50 mothers on maternity leave.
The purpose of the questionnaire was to get to know the various daily routines, their ways of caring for their babies, what they need and what limits them.

The answers showed that most mothers conduct different types of monitoring of their baby's care, in order to understand the baby's behavior and produce a healthy and safe routine for them. The major parameters for the mothers were duration and amount.
I believe that a designed tool for tracking baby behavior can contribute to many caregivers. This type of tool allows to easily document, remind and learn from simple data.

Aside from the individual benefits for each mother in documenting her baby’s daily routine, the system is a quality platform for collecting and analyzing data on a variety of babies in their first months of life.
Gathering this type of information for the purpose of researching and understanding infants can take researchers months. The system offers the information collected about the babies in a convenient desktop dashboard, along with tools for analyzing the information. All information is provided to the researchers without personal details about the babies aside from gender, age, birth type, weight and height.

The system displays the average daily data for the four main actions with the option to filter the data by using a slider that delimits the age range. The central visual graph shows the distribution of data documentation along a 24-hour axis using a 'heat map' - with the darkest hue representing the most logs for that point of time.
The menu includes buttons to: growth curves logged in the system or more complex graphs and statistics depending on the user's need.
It is possible to view the total number of users in the system at any given moment .
